To build and do what is necessary for survival and for life. It also speaks to Yemaya, the oceans mother, the Queen of the Waters and her nourishment feeds the body, the mind and the spirit.
I was inspired to paint this from an image I have carried around for years, as a single mother it gave me a bit of strength and encouragement. When I decided to truly devote myself to painting, I felt that I had to paint her so it could become a symbol of strength for others.
